4 x 4 Vehicles
SUV and 4X4 vehicles are becoming more prevalent on Australian roads and each of these vehicles and customers have a specific use for their vehicles. As such there is a huge variety of brands and tread patterns available, but it is not always obvious what will suit a customers requirements. The staff at Cairns Tyre Specialists can help to choose the correct tryes to suit your vehicle and driving conditions.
As a guide there is 3 basic types of tyres available
Highway
A lot of today’s SUV vehicles have been designed with performance in mind. They are engineered to offer a performance that is as close to an every-day road car where possible. The best tyres for these applications are highway-terrain (HT) tyres as they handle well at high speeds, give a quiet ride and good mileage for on road driving.
All-Terrain
These tyres are ideal for vehicles that spend most of their life on the bitumen but will do the occassional trip off road. While they may be less comfortable than luxury or performance 4x4 tyres, all-terrain (AT) tyres are a great choice where various terrains are part of your driving.
Mud-Terrain
If off-road driving is the primarily use of your 4x4, then a mud-terrain (MT) tyre would be the best choice for you. Designed to keep traction even on the roughest terrain, mud-terrain tyres work best when the majority or may be all of your driving is away from the bitumen.
